ABOUT ME

Abril López Ruiz is a Mexican singer, actress, and dancer with a name for every skill she has professionally trained on. She has participated in multiple productions in Mexico, including the roles of Amalia in “Amalia: El Sinuosos Caso de la Muñeca de Celuloide” and Regina in “Rock of Ages”. In 2023, Abril moved to New York City and graduated from the Musical Theatre Program of The American Musical Dramatic Academy. After making her NYC Debut in Hamlet isn’t Dead’s Pericles, she has performed in various festivals and venues.

She studied at ProArt Puebla, where she graduated from their Musical Theatre program in 2023. She later moved to New York City to be part of the Musical Theatre Program of The American Musical Dramatic Academy, graduating in 2024. She received private vocal coaching from Andrea Diaz, a Mexico City’s Cats cast member, and took figure skating lessons as a hobby!

Abril had the chance to originate the role of Amalia in the musical Amalia: El Sinuosos Caso de la Muñeca de Celuloide, where she participated in the workshop and first full production in 2022. She also participated in a limited run of Rock of Ages in the role of Regina at Alboa Entertainment, an innovative proposal for immersive theater.

Abril’s first performance was when she was 6 years old as a Zebra in The Jungle Book, she still doesn’t have it very clear as to how she made it to the jungle. She has multiple interests but she loves to spend her time ice skating, and listening to music, especially rock anthems from the 80’s with “bateria y reggaeton" on the side. She also has a great passion for fashion, since she grew up in the creative process at her mother’s boutique. She hopes to one day be able to retire in an Italian Villa with ABBA playing in the background.
